Biography
Ochaco Uraraka (Japanese: (麗日 お茶子, Hepburn: Uraraka Ochako) was a Japanese female born in Japan in a time when mankind had become a superhuman society following the emergence of Quirks. She was born with a zero gravity work with her parents owning a construction business. Whilst growing up, their business had not experienced significant amount of work in years which led to them financially struggling and affected their life style. Both her parents had Quirks that were incompatible with their job but the young Ochako had an ability that helped in construction work. However, as a small child, she had a deep desire to help her family in any way she could to do so where she wanted to work and use her ability to help them. This helped reduce labor costs and allowed them to sell their heavy lifting equipment for money. Though wanting to help, her father had told Ochako that what would make him and her mother happy was for her to achieve her own dreams. This led to her desiring to become a Pro Hero where she wanted to help people and also earn enough money in the process to make her parent's life easy. It was due to her parents exhaustion that Ochaco, even at a young age, always wanted and loved to see people happy. Whenever she had an encounter with a hero, she found herself always looking to the cheering people that were happy at the hero's presence.
Ochaco attends the U.A. Highschool Entrance Exams. She notices Izuku Midoriya tripping and uses her Quirk to float his body, preventing him from falling over. She apologizes for using her Quirk on Izuku without permission. She nervously admits to him her concerns about the test and departs by wishing him good luck. During the practical portion of the exam, Ochaco scores twenty-eight points by using her Quirk on the Villain Bots. Suddenly, a gigantic villain bot appears and tears apart the testing arena. Ochaco gets caught under debris as the robot approaches, putting her in danger of being crushed. Izuku puts his safety aside and rushes to her aid, the young man then uses his Quirk for the first time and destroys the giant villain bot with one powerful blow, much to Ochaco's shock. However, Izuku breaks both his legs and his right arm in the process and begins to free fall. Ochaco frees herself from the debris in time to save Izuku from falling from the great height. She smacks him just in time and uses her powers to float him as he's about to crash with the exams ending shortly after. Ochaco returns to U.A. after the exams and asks Present Mic if she can transfer some of the points she'd earned onto Izuku. She tells Present Mic that Izuku had a zero score and that she needed to repay him for saving her. Present Mic thanks Ochaco for stopping by, but Izuku earned enough rescue points to pass. Ochaco also earned forty-five rescue points. Combined with her villain points, this places Ochaco third in the exam. She was with her mother when she receives the results of the exam. After learning that she got into U.A. High, she and her mother burst into tears while her mother takes a picture of Ochaco's crying face to celebrate the moment.
On the first day of school, Ochaco turned out to be the last person to arrive in Class 1-A. She came upon Izuku and Tenya talking at the door where Izuku was clearly embarrassed over recent events. However, this did not stop Ochaco from telling him how awesome his punch from the exam was. A man clad in a sleeping bag, lying on the ground appears behind the trio. They are frightened when he tells them that they're taking up too much time chatting. This man introduces himself as Shota Aizawa: their homeroom teacher. He immediately tells the class to dress in their P.E. attire and go to the training grounds. Ochaco is concerned that they will miss orientation, but Shota claims there isn't any time for formalities. Class 1-A follows Shota outside, where he announces that they will undergo Quirk apprehension tests to determine their standing in the class. The person who places last will be immediately expelled. Ochaco expresses that she feels this is unfair to the students. Shota replies that many of the world's disasters are unfair and that the students will need to "Go Beyond" that. In the fifty meter-dash, Ochaco uses her Quirk: "Zero Gravity" to negate the gravitational pull on her clothes and shoes. The added speed allows her to finish in 7.15 seconds, which is faster than her previous score from junior high. On the pitch test, Ochaco achieves an infinite score by floating the ball into the atmosphere. Izuku goes next, but Shota erases his Quirk to stop him from breaking his arm. Izuku recognizes him as the Pro Hero Eraser Head, but Ochaco and other students do not recognize that name. Then Izuku throws the ball over seven hundred meters though he breaks his finger and Ochaco cheers him on. Following the physical tests, Shota reveals the student's scores. Ochaco places tenth out of the class while Izuku comes in last. Just when Izuku believes he's been expelled, Shota reveals that no one is going home and that threat was just a logical deception. Ochaco and most of the students are shocked by this revelation. Afterward, Ochaco catches up with Izuku and Tenya to ask them if they want to walk to the station together. She recognizes Tenya by his name but accidentally calls Izuku by his nickname Deku. Izuku explains that Deku is a nickname that Katsuki uses to bully him. Ochaco apologizes, then reveals she likes the name Deku. She says it would make a great hero name and that it's cute. Ochaco and her new friends Tenya and Deku walk home together.
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, she was a young teenage girl of average height with warm brown eyes and bobbed hair styled as baby bangs alongside with two longer parts of hair on the side of her face. She has small, eyebrows and a permanent blush on her cheeks. As a hero, she came to choose the name Uravity (ウラビティ Urabiti?) as her superhero name.
She was a very open-minded, nice, cheerful, lively, outgoing, and optimistic girl. Ochaco had a very warm, lively individual who thought about everything positively. It was shown that she was empathetic in general and friendly to those she met and will try to help or defend anyone who was kind to her or who needed assistance. Other students had described her as the most laid back girl in their class where she had a very bubbly personality with her being a bit of an airhead at times. She seemed to be very good at reading people and understood the reasons behind a person's actions.
Despite her usually cheery and sometimes ditzy demeanor, Ochaco can take on an extremely determined, focused, and somewhat intimidating attitude when the situation calls for it. This side of her personality can come as a surprise to those who are used to her generally bubbly nature, and it tends to appear during competitive situations like the U.A. Sports Festival. While she is shown to be surprisingly strategic, she isn't above making some impulsive or reckless decisions. When it comes to her chosen path as a Hero, Ochaco is unwavering and dislikes being underestimated, even in the face of an overwhelming force.
It was this reason that she was motivated to be a hero in order to make money so that her parents could have easier lives.
