History
The Ogdru Jahad
Within the void, the seven beasts remained imprisoned within the darkness where they dreamed of their release into the world. (Hellboy: Seed of Destruction v1 #3)
Before their banishment, they left behind Sadu-Hem to serve as their foothold in the mortal world. Uncounted eons ago, the first race of men had erected a temple to the Ogdru Jahad which became a fable in years ahead with it being used to contain Sadu-Hem. Though seemingly dead and fossilised, the creature's mind still remained alive and waited until the time it could achieve its purpose. (Hellboy: Seed of Destruction v1 #3)
Eighty years ago, the serpentine Ogdru Jahad came to whisper to Grigori Rasputin after he was beaten, shot and poisoned in his homeland of Russia with him being thrown into the frozen Neva. Within those icy waters, the demons bade Rasputin to rise once more and showed him visions of the end of the world with the once more man believing it was his destiny to bring forth the doom of mankind. (Hellboy: Seed of Destruction v1 #3)
Around fifty years ago, Grigori Rasputin set about his plans in bringing forth the means of releasing the Ogdru Jahad leading to the summoning of Hellboy. To accomplish this, he came to join Nazi Germany during World War II where he offered Adolf Hitler a means of securing victory for the Third Reich. This led to the creation of Project Ragna Rok with Rasputin being among the heads of the initiative in bringing forth the key. However, the child was taken by the Allies before Rasputin could set his plans into motion. After the Reich's defeat, Rasputin sought communion with the Seven Beasts and sought out their fabled temple where he remained for many years. (Hellboy: Seed of Destruction v1 #3)

Films
- In Hellboy, the Ogdru Jahad appeared in the the 2004 live action film where they referenced in the setting. The Ogdru Jahad were mentioned twice by Rasputin where they appear as indistinct cephalopod-like creatures seemingly within in crystal shells. They were called by Rasputin as the seven gods of chaos that would destroy the world and bring about a new Eden from the ashes. It was revealed that Rasputin summoned Hellboy with the purpose of freeing them but after his initial defeat he himself went before the Ogdru Jahad where he carried parts of them within his flesh. In the modern age, he would continue his plan and bring about the doorway where he forced Hellboy to open the doorway to shatter their prison where they approached the Earth until Hellboy denied his heritage. He would later battle the spawn of the Ogdru Jahad that emerged from the slain Rasputin's body and kill it with a grenade belt.
