Panayis

Panayis was a Greek revolutionary who worked closely with Louki on Navarone. He claimed not to speak English, although he was secretly fluent in it. It was said he'd once been flogged by the Germans until the white of his ribs showed, but this was another lie; Panayis was in fact a spy for the Germans, and actively worked to undermine Keith Mallory's mission on Navarone. He tipped Lieutenant Turzig and Captain Skoda off to the group's location, and later sabotaged Dusty Miller's bombmaking equipment. Miller discovered the sabotage and deduced it had been Panayis, and confronted him, revealing the lack of scars on Panayis' back to Mallory. For his betrayal, Miller shot Panayis through the heart and killed him.
