In Greek mythology, Pandora, the first woman, was given what became known as Pandora's Box by the Greek gods and told to never open it. This the gods did because they knew she would be overwhelmed with curiosity and do exactly what she was told not to. Of course, after much mulling over it, she did, and found that the box contained all the evils and ills that now assail mankind. However, she managed to close the box before everything escaped, so that humanity had one thing left- hope.

Hercules-Xena

The direct descendants of Pandora were entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the Box.

DC

The Box became the trophy storage box of Vandal Savage.
