DC's third major continuity, subtly rewritten from the post-Crisis era following Zero Hour in 1994. The doorway to alternate universes and futures was reopened with the concept of Hypertime, presented in 1998's The Kingdom. This incarnation of the DC Universe was replaced during the events of Infinite Crisis.

The Marvel and DC universes came into collision in DC vs. Marvel and JLA/Avengers, and were temporarily fused together as the Amalgam universe during the former. The DC and Image universes were once one universe, split into separate time tracks in events shown in JLA/WildCATS. Planetary/Batman, Mister Majestic's visit to the DC Universe, and Captain Atom: Armageddon all confirm that the Wildstorm universe (which broke away from Image) is a universe separate from, but related to, DC. (Wildstorm even has its own Gotham City.)
