The Phoenix unit was a highly specialized gene created by the scientists behind the Phoenix Project. Injected into a host organism, it enabled the organism to become adaptable to any environment and capable of surviving almost anything. It was given to a great white shark whom the scientists had nicknamed Charlie, with disastrous results.
