History
Planet Doom was a mysterious dark world that was ruled by King Zarkon and was part of the Drule Empire.
Using the super cannon, the protective screen around Planet Doom was penetrated allowing for the Voltron Force to attack the world directly. By this point, Lotor had deposed his father and crowned himself as the new ruler of Planet Doom where he named himself Lotor the First who turned his father into a Robeast. After defeat Zarkon, Voltron made landfall where they linked up with the resistance forces that were formed under the leadership of Princess Romelle and Sven. Thus, their next plan was to end the reign of King Lotor with these developments causing unease amongst the Drule Empire.
Assisted by the Castle of Lions, Voltron came to gain enough firepower to devastate Lotor's castle. In ruins, the Voltron Force offered a peace to the Robeasts of Planet Doom if they surrendered and signed a treaty that freed the slave populace of the world. The ranking leaders of Planet Doom then approached King Lotor about surrendering but he refused to do so and intended to continue his war. Angered at their defiance, he began to execute them where they attempted to arrest him but all of them were slain by Lotor. As the Planet Doom forces retreated, King Lotor managed to escape with him taking Sven hostage and wanted to unleash a hidden weapon to destroy Voltron.
Seeking to combat the growing Galaxy Alliance, Zarkon decided to send out a call to others to rally under his banner in opposing their shared enemy. This led to Merla and the Tiger Fighter both travelling to Planet Doom. The latter was convinced to duel the Voltron Force whilst the former agreed to join forces but that they would be equals in this new empire. Zarkon agreed and through telepathic manipulation of Merla he was convinced to provide her new weapons and even a powerful Roboeast for her first strike against Voltron Force.
Overview
In appearance, Planet Doom was a dark and gloomy world with a barren landscape.
Locations on the planet included:
- Castle Doom : the palace that was home to King Zarkon who was the ruler of Planet Doom.
- Pit of Skulls : a site littered with the skulls of prisoners who perished on the planet.
It was noted that Planet Doom was situated far from the Drule Empire and was in fact their foothold in the galaxy of the Galaxy Alliance.
Leadership was held by the royal family that was headed by the King with his children the Prince holding a high position within the hierarchy. A group of Governors also sat as an advisory body beneath the rulers of the planet.
A protective screen shrouded that consisted of storms which generated powerful electrical charges that were able to destroy enemies that attempted to invade Planet Doom.
