It was said that during the era of Atlantis that Arion came to be a favoured son of Poseidon. Through their encounters, the Atlantean learnt of a great secret of the world and other planets that connected the various oceans. Thus, Arion had a dream of creating a community of universal oceans that linked all the stars together. (Justice League/Aquaman: Drowned Earth v1 #1) Thus, he created the Clarion with the aid of Poseidon that was a kind of cosmic conch meant to call across the cosmos to other worlds that had life-filled oceans. The call was made and though some divine beings answered so did invaders which resulted in a great war being fought. (Justice League v4 #10) Posiedon was instrumental in using the Tear of Extinction to banish the evil Ocean Lords from the Earth. (Justice League/Aquaman: Drowned Earth v1 #1)

In this encounter, Poseidon revealed that the other realm invading was a sister kingdom of Atlantis from long ago. To protect the Earth, the sea god gave divine enchantments and a special trident to Aquaman to combat the dark wild magic of the invaders to save the world. (Aquaman v7 #42)
