Princess Ananka

Princess Ananka was the high priestess of the Egyptian god Karnak. 4,000 years ago she died of unnatural causes, following a forbidden affair with Kharis, the high priest. Their love was forbidden because by divine law the high priestess was promised only to Karnak himself. Ananka's death removed her from this obligation. However, Kharis' attempts to revive her using the Scroll of Life only resulted in his own eternal damnnation. Ananka's tomb was discovered by Stephen Banning, John Banning and Joseph Whemple in 1895, and her mummy was subsequently sent to the British Museum some six months later. In life, Ananka was considered the most beautiful woman in the world, and Isobel Banning bore an uncanny resemblance to the long-dead princess.
