Professor Murai
Professor Murai was one of Japan's leading scientific experts employed by the government to investigate bizarre phenomena. He dated Naoko Shindo, to the consternation of her brother. When Mothra's egg washed ashore, Murai was on hand to examine it - until Kumayama purchased the egg from the locals and threw him out. When Godzilla resurfaced after his battle with King Kong, Murai accompanied Ichiro Sakai and Junko Nakanishi to Infant Island to request Mothra's assistance in battling the monster.
The same year, Murai and several other scientists went to investigate a fallen meteor with strange magnetic properties. The meteor turned out to be the vessel by which King Ghidorah arrived on Earth, and Murai and his stunned colleagues were the first human beings to see the evil space alien.
