Detective Shindo
Detective Shindo was a plainclothes police officer whose superior, Chief Detective Okita, tasked him with protecting Princess Selina Salno during her visit to Japan. Initially she was thought dead when her plane exploded in flight before arriving from Selgina, however Shindo subsequently noticed that the the strange "Venusian" prophet making all of the newspapers bore a striking resemblance to the Princess. Indeed, it was Salno, who had seemingly lost her mind, selling her golden bracelet of succession for commoner's clothes.
With the help of his sister Naoko, Shindo succeeded in tracking Salno to a hotel - but so did a group of assassins from Selgina, led by Malmess. Following a shootout with the killers, Shindo rescued the Princess and with his sister they escaped from the city as it was attacked by Godzilla and Rodan. Shindo then drove Salno to the Tsukamoto Laboratory for psychiatric evaluation, but Dr. Tsukamoto could find nothing wrong with her. Subsequently, Salno revealed that King Ghidorah, who had arrived on Earth in a meteor, would destroy the world. This soon came to pass. Shindo went back to the city with Naoko, leaving Salno in the care of Dr. Tsukamoto.
With the help of Professor Murai they were able to persuade the Japanese government to call on the Twin Fairies to enlist the aid of Mothra. Upon returning to Tsukamoto's clinic, Shindo clashed again with Malmess and his henchmen as he came to the Princess' aid. Escaping in Tsukamoto's car whilst Godzilla, Mothra and Rodan fought Ghidorah, Shindo was almost killed by Malmess with a sniper rifle, until a fateful landslide killed the assassin. During this time, Salno regained her memory. Following the defeat of Ghidorah, the Princess thanked Shindo for saving her, and the two bid their good-byes at the airport as she returned to Selgina.
