Biography
Clinton McIntyre
Thanks to an AI construct, AIM discovered that he was formerly an Army private who killed his commanding officer. He was let out of lock-up by General Saunder and two rogue generals who believed him a better candidate for Professor Erskine's super soldier formula then the skinny and weaker Steve Rogers. Unbeknownst to them, there was three ingredients to Erskine Super Soldier Serum and taken one immediately after the other. So the General Saunders only gave one of the ingredient samples to McIntyre, which resulted in his death and Saunders taking sole blame. After resurrecting McIntyre, AIM gave him false memory implants. In these false memories, McIntyre had been personally chosen by Professor Erskine, as he was the perfect physical specimen, only to be later disposed of by Steve Rogers in Nazi-controlled Europe in order to allow Rogers to continue as the only US Super Soldier. Advanced Idea Mechanics came to uncover the hidden underground installation in Washington, D.C. where they found Protocide still frozen in the cryogenic chambers. (Captain America v3 #28) They transported him to one of their laboratories where they went about reviving him with them naming him Protocide. (Captain America v3 #29) A.I.M had intended to use him against Captain America where they provided him detailed information on his target. (Captain America v3 #30) To test him, Protocide was sent against a living target where he was dispatched to fight U.S. Agent where he effortlessly defeated his foe. (Captain America v3 #33)
As Protocide, McIntyre was sent after every HYDRA safehouse that AIM could locate, and it was at one of those locations that he again faced Captain America. After being beaten by his foe, he and Protocide had to team-up to avoid being killed by the remaining HYDRA forces. Upon being struck by a beam from a neural shock beam, Protocide was knocked into the HYDRA energy core, only just catching a small ledge. Captain America managed to pull him free, telling Protocide that he had been given a second chance and should use his gift to make the world a better place. He used this opportunity to throw Cap into the energy core and left, proclaiming himself Captain America. (Captain America v3 #37) S.H.I.E.L.D. tracked Protocide to a secret AIM bunker which Captain America invaded and again fought Protocide. Protocide managed to get the better of Cap, but upon stabbing his hand to get him to fall into the spinning blades of a helicopter, Cap managed to swing himself back onto the ledge. The Avenger then tossed his shield into the helicopter, slicing the blades free and sending the helicopter into a crash. The resulting explosion caused the base to begin to fall apart, almost sending Cap to his death. Protocide had managed to get a stable hand-hold and grabbed Cap as he fell, though it may just have been the basic human reaction of wanting to catch a falling object. As the base quickly approached its destruction, Protocide threw Cap out of it, leaving the Avenger to believe he had perished. (Captain America v3 #38)

Powers and abilities
He was injected with an incomplete version of Abraham Erskine's Super-Soldier Serum that ultimately cost him his life. (Captain America v3 #28) It was noted that he was part of a prototype attempt but something went wrong and it resulted in his body unable to handle the sudden change to it. However, the unique blood in him allowed him to be revived despite his seeming death. (Captain America v3 #29) It was shown that he gained various superhuman traits that included speed making him incredibly fast. (Captain America v3 #31) He was capable of surviving falls that would normally kill an ordinary human being. (Captain America v3 #33)
Protocide was shown to be equipped with a sharp angular shield where he was known to use the pointed end to stab opponents to badly injure them. (Captain America v3 #33)
