The Punisher is a robot that features in Marvel Comics.

History

When the Ultimates sought Galactus, they made their way to his space station where numerous Punisher robots activated and attacked them. They were destroyed by Carol Danvers with the assistance of the Blue Marvel whereupon they met with the World Devourer. (Ultimates v2 #1)

In Jojola Nebula, an isolated world managed to acquire the Transluminal Tuning Fork which was kept on its surface. The inhabitants later managed to recover a Punisher and brought it back for study. Once there, the machine repaired its damage and self-replicated where it overran the planet. The robotic constructs then proceeded to dominate the world and had crafted an effigy of Galactus on the planets surface. (All-New Guardians of the Galaxy Annual v1 #1)

They were not only capable of self-repairing but also of self-replication allowing them to create more of their number. (All-New Guardians of the Galaxy Annual v1 #1)

Notes

  • The Punishers were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby where they made their first appearance in Fantastic Four v1 #49 (April, 1966).

Alternate Versions

  • In the 100th Anniversary Special - Guardians of the Galaxy v1 #1, an alternate future was shown whereby multiple Punisher robots served Silver Galactus with these robotic machines battling the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Video games

  • In Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Punishers were shown to had accompanied Galactus's attack on the Skrull homeworld where they engaged the heroes that had arrived to steal devices from the World Devourer.
