The Reaper Virus is a disease that features in the movie Doomsday.

History

The Reaper Virus was a deadly disease that emerged on Earth in the early 21st century. This infectious virus suddenly emerged within the United Kingdom where an outbreak occurred in Glasgow, Scotland on April 3, 2008. In a short time, the epidemic spread quickly in the area where it began to infect more and more of the populace who died violently. The spread of the disease led to the government deciding to cordon off Scotland by building a wall separating the infected in the north from London. Those that remained in Scotland were thus abandoned to the plague whilst those that were uninfected retreated behind the wall. Whilst seemingly safe, a drug raid in the Whitechapel district by the police led to the discovery of numerous corpses in varying stages of decomposition. One of the key scientists that studied the virus was Dr Marcus Kane. As such, by 2035, it became apparent that the virus had now spread into London. It was then learnt that the government had known of survivors in Scotland for the last three years thus showing that they might be immune to the virus. Instead, they had decided to isolate the infected region and placed it under quarantine as part of a national emergency. However, with the presence of the disease in London, they authorized an expedition into Scotland to find a cure to the Reaper Virus before the uninfected populace succumbed to its effects. This expedition was launched by Department of Domestic Security agent Catherine Sinclair with a team to find a possible cure amongst the population in the contained northern regions that was separated by the Wall.

Overview

In terms of symptoms, the true effects of the virus were unknown except that it was highly infectious with those carriers experiencing sores throughout their bodies where they died violently as they spewed blood.
