Biography

The Red Torpedo was a female elemental robot that controlled water who was created by the scientist T. O. Morrow. (Red Tornado v2 #1) He was noted to had built her in a automotive plant in Czechoslovakia where she was intended to be his enforcer. At the time, the European Union had formed and Morrow had her steal money from various sites to fund his operations. Though sentient, she agreed to her creators plans as he used them to support their living but in time his ambitions grew and he desired her to steal weapons. At this time in history, the Soviet Union had collapsed and Morrow intended to capitalise on the event to secure an arsenal for himself. However, the Red Torpedo disagreed with her maker and ultimately rebelled against him where she fled from him. Despite leaving him, T.O. Morrow came to eventually track her down where he returned her to his laboratory with her being left paralysed. Her father stated that he intended to deactivate her and start again with a new android to be a more dutiful child. Upon being shut down, he hid her in a wrecked submarine deep underwater near Pearl Harbour with her being placed in a torpedo tube with the intention of never being reactivated again. Despite this being the case, the Red Torpedo re-configured her distress beacon to emit a signal passed on her brain patter where she believed that this would be registered by the other Morrow androids that he created in the future. This was with the hope that one of these siblings would one day reactivate her at a latter date. (Red Tornado v2 #2)

By the modern day, her signal came to be detected by two of her siblings with these being Red Tornado and Red Volcano. The former of these was able to track her beacon to its source with this being a sunken submarine located in Pearl Harbor. Located within a torpedo tube, Red Tornado was able to recover his 'sister' and reactivate her. (Red Tornado v2 #1) The presence of the two androids was detected by the U.S.A.F. who dispatched fighter jets to shoot down what was perceived as being intruders. Red Torpedo told her 'brother' to let her back into the water so she could reconnect with her elemental power and wield it fully. This led to her openly attacking the U.S. fighters with Red Tornado being forced to intervene to stop her from destroying them. He then asked Red Torpedo to follow him to the Fanning Islands so that they could talk. She explained her origins to him and revealed the existence of their other sibling Red Volcano who had taken Morrow hostage. Working together, they managed to force Red Volcano to flee and thus save Morrow in the process. (Red Tornado v2 #2)

The two androids then decided to interrogate their creator who revealed that Red Volcano was another of his creations. Morrow at first did not know who Red Torpedo was but quickly recalled that she was another one of his creations. He expressed dismay that she did not die from rust but commented how his advanced construction kept her alive. These words upset Red Torpedo who began to manipulate the moisture of all living beings in the room including the guards and Morrow. This caused them to bleed excessively from their noses and eyes. Seeing the harm she was doing, Red Tornado tackled his sister and forced the pair of them outside the prison to stop her from the damage she was doing to people. Dropping Red Torpedo back into the ocean, Red Tornado then went back to Morrow in order to interrogate him for further information on the other androids. She then re-joined her 'brother' Red Tornado and apologised as they decided to work together to stop Red Volcano. It was then that Red Tornado received a call from his wife over the kidnapping of a boy in their neighbourbood. Red Tornado determined this to be the work of Red Volcano and he along with Red Torpedo went to investigate. At the scene though, the U.S. military arrived to deal with the recent attacks from the rogue androids. (Red Tornado v2 #3)

After the Construct was freed, it proceeded with taking control of every mechanical being on the planet. This included Red Torpedo and her siblings within the 'Red Family'. (Justice League of America v2 #60)

Overview

Personality and attributes

It was shown that she had a temper and had no issue with unleashing it on others. This was seen when her creator angered her to the point that she harmed him and others in the room. Despite that, she was shown to be remorseful over going too far in her actions. (Red Tornado v2 #3)

Her creator T.O. Morrow had made her to be his enforcer and even though she was sentient she decided to follow his orders. In time though, she decided to rebel and turned against him because she felt that criminal activities were wrong. (Red Tornado v2 #1) Her power was such that she could navigate underwater, use it to fly in the air at speeds that matched her brother and also shape water to achieve various feats. She said she could use it in such a way to defeat fighter craft and set them gently on the surface or she could cocoon opponents in order to drown them. Prior to her initial deactivation, she had begun experimenting on the use of her powers in using them in new ways. This included the ability to manipulate water over a distance. (Red Tornado v2 #2)

Her powers allowed her to drain the moisture from living beings. The effect was to cause people to feel pain in their heads with blood coming out of their orifices. (Red Tornado v2 #3)
