Renfield (Universal Monsters)

Renfield was an English estate agent sent from England to Transylvania in order to sell the property of Carfax Abbey to a certain Count Dracula. Although Renfield succeeded in making the sale, he fell under the evil vampire's spell and became his bug-eating servant. Upon his return to England the insane Renfield was admitted to Dr. Jack Seward's sanitarium, where he was looked after by Martin. Eventually Renfield escaped and followed Dracula to Carfax Abbey after the vampire had abducted Mina Seward. In doing so, he inadvertenly led Seward, Van Helsing and John Harker to Dracula. Enraged by this apparent betrayal, Dracula slew Renfield as soon as he found out the reason the vampire hunters had found him.
