History
Rook Unlimited was a powerful corporation established by Jonathan Rook and was based in Charter City.
Following an incident at Rook Tower, an battle emerged with the Flex Fighters leaving the scene. It was then that Jonathan Rook went on the news to reveal that the numerous incidents affecting the city were the result of the Flex Fighters who were involved in a plot to mutate the people of the city. He claimed that when he discovered their plot that they attacked him and fled leading to the once corporate superhero team being labelled as criminals that were on the run from the law. Thus, Rook Unlimited security forces were tasked with their arrest leading to numerous attempts at capturing them.
Using drones, the company managed to uncover the secret headquarters of Dr. C and the Flex Fighters. This saw Rook deployed the entirety of his security forces against the Flex Fighters and ignored advice to leave a contingent behind to protect the tower. During that moment, Rook Tower came under attack from the Tech-Men who took control of Rook Unlimited where it was revealed that Malcolm Kane was the criminal organizations leader. With the corporate takeover a success, a wounded Jonathan Rook struck in a half-way transformation to Stretch Monster was forced to flee and seek the help of the Flex Fighters. Rook Unlimited then began fielding Smartmarks that were claimed to be a new form of communication technology that was fitted on the skin of a user. However, it was secretly fitted with mind control technology that allowed the Tech Men to take force the people of Charter City to follow their commands. Unknown to them, certain people exposed to variant compounds of Flexarium were immune to the mind control process. Among these included Flex who freed others as the Flex Fighters looked to stop the Smartmark technology from taking over the citizens of the city.
