Schools of Magic

The Schools of Magic are specialized branches of magical study. Every known magical spell falls within one or more of the Schools of Magic.
There are three basic categories of magical schools:
- The eight "core" schools, known as Schools of Philosophy, focus on the nature of different kinds of magic:
- Schools of Effect, which center around the actual effect of the magic:
- Schools of Thaumaturgy, which center around the specific methods used in spellcasting:
Wizards who specialize in these schools are known as specialist wizards.
