History

The Seraphim were a humanoid alien species that were resident to the far reaches of Quantum space. Their civilisation was noted to had been 20,000 years old where they developed a philosophy known as The Way that relied on empathic feeling from this connection. It prevented them from being from harming another sentient being resulting in them becoming a peaceful race. At some point, Seraphim exiles abandoned Quantum space and journeyed into the Milky Way galaxy where they settled on the colony of Seraphim II. During the Earth Empire's second galactic expansion, a colonization mission travelled to that world where they made first contact with alien life. This encounter led to the Commander of the expedition cutting all contact with Earth as he expected an aggressive encounter with the aliens. As such, the contact cut with Earth was designed to prevent the discovery from frightening the general population in the empire and to stop the aliens from discovering their homeworld. In that time, a biologist in the expedition by the name of Sarah went to meet with the aliens without her Commander's knowledge in order to make peaceful contact with the Seraphim. She proved to be successful and even managed to gain their trust but the expedition Commander's increasing paranoia led him to believe that Sarah had been brainwashed by the extraterrestrial menace. A growing number of the colonists had become sympathizers to Sarah's cause and intended to learn from the aliens though the Commander of the mission decided to continue his attacks in order to provoke an aggressive response. Ultimately, he decided in the release of a biological weapon that entered the atmosphere of Seraphim II where it proved to be fatal to the aliens. Before they died, they managed to impart all their knowledge and technology onto Sarah as well as those that sided with them. Thus, it seemed that the Seraphim race had gone extinct and the colonization mission became deeply affected by the experience. Following settling on the planet, they decided to build on the Seraphim teachings and created the Aeon Illuminate.

Following the deployment of the Black Sun, a rift appeared into the Quantum Realm which the Seraphim exploited to enter into the normal universe. Thus, it was revealed that the alien founders of the Aeon Illuminate had not died but had in fact used events to stage a galactic invasion of the Milky Way Galaxy. This saw them engage in a galactic conflict that engulfed space over the next two years.

Overview

In appearance, the Seraphim were seemingly a humanoid species despite their extradimensional origins. Their close connection to the Way meant that they were highly empathic and sensed the emotions of others from that link. As such, the Seraphim were physically incapable of harming another sentient being. However, to wage war, they were able to sever their connection to the Way with this leading to a drastic change in the Seraphim. These warriors were transformed into emotionless killing machines allowing them to engage in warfare. Such Seraphim paid the price for this act as it ostracised them from the rest of their society leading to them becoming outcasts that were never accepted back into ranks of their people.

Upon seeing the ACU on Seraphim II, the species went about conducing research in creating their own version of the weapon. This was because the technology meant that they needed fewer warriors on the field as commanders were able to field entire armies by themselves. The Seraphim ACU was technologically different from its human counterparts but largely operated the same.

Vehicles utilised by the Seraphim included:

  • Selen : the T1 Combat Scout was a light, fast mobile reconnaissance unit that when stationary, deployed cloaking and stealth fields.

Aerial vehicles used by the race included:

  • Vishala : an air transport vehicle that was armed with forward mounted Heavy Phasic Autoguns for ground suppression whilst a pair of Shleos were used for anti-air fire. It utilised 16 transportation clamps in order to deploy its charges onto the field.

Among their experimental units included:

  • Ythotha : a T4 Experimental Assault Bot that was considered a two-stage weapon that resembled the Aeon's Galactic Colossus. Its first form had it operate as a heavy unit that fired extremely destructive Phason lasers with its second form only activating upon its destruction. When destroyed, the shell released a ferocious Quantum energy being known as a Othuy that was indestructible but could only maintain its existence for a short period of time.
  • Ahwassa : a massive experimental bomber that was able to devastate entire basis with its light armored frame along with massive fuel cells allowing it to be move extremely fast giving it the capacity to traverse across entire worlds. They were armed with an experimental strategic bomb that was a rough equivalent of a small tactical buke and was protected by AA cannons.
  • Yolona Oss : an Experimental Missile Launcher that launched a warhead so large that it required two strategic missiles to be capable of shooting it down.

One such device was the Quantum Arch that was a trans-spatial quantum teleporter that was used to allow the transport of large numbers of objects and people from their dimension into the Milky Way. This served as the means of bringing in their invasion forces that were to be used to conquer the galaxy.
