History

Pre-Crisis

The Seven Soldiers of Victory were a team of superheroes that gathered together to combat evil and crimes. Their origins were traced to the machinations of the criminal mastermind called the Hand who at the time came to believe himself to be terminally ill. He decided to enact some of his greatest unused schemed through five other criminals that he saved from the police with these including Big Caesar, the Dummy, the Needle, Professor Merlin, and the Red Dragon. Serving as his Five Fingers, the criminals committed crimes across the U.S. in order prove his genius to the world. The Hand also challenged the five criminals' superhero foes that included the Crimson Avenger, the Vigilante, the Star-Spangled Kid and Stripesy, the Green Arrow and Speedy and the Shining Knight who gathered to stop the villains where the criminal mastermind presumed they would fail in their goal. However, the heroes defeated the Five Fingers and later converged on the Hand's base after he revealed his whereabouts to them. By this point, the arch-villain had found out a cure for his condition and decided to eliminate the heroes so he could remain free but the masked superheroes managed to evade his traps. When the villain tried to use a lightning ray machine against them, the Vigilante shot a crucial component of the device, bringing machinery down upon the Hand and apparently killing him. Deciding they work well together, the heroes formed the Seven Soldiers of Victory. (Leading Comics v1 #1)

Post-Crisis

Following the Crisis on Infinite Earths, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events. The Seven Soldiers of Victory

Post-Flashpoint

Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different version of events.

After the defeat of Perpetua, the Multiverse was restored and turned into a vast infinite frontier of alternate Earths.

It was revealed that the Seven Soldiers had formed during the Golden Age when the first masked mystery men began to emerge. Their ranks consisted of the Crimson Avenger, his sidekick Wing, the Vigilante Greg Saunders, the Shining Knight Sir Justin, the Star-Spangled Kid and his sidekick Stripsey with them being joined by Green Arrow along with his sidekick Speedy. Unknown to their compatriots, Green Arrow and Speedy were actually displaced in time where they came from the future and looked for a way to return to their own time. At some point, Wing was seemingly killed and the Seven Soldiers later sought to stop Per Degaton's time machine that was on a boat from exploding on a populated beach. This event saw the seeming death of the Crimson Avenger with Green Arrow and Speedy being returned to their own timeline as a result of the temporal energies. (Stargirl Spring Break Special v1 #1)

During this time, Pat Dugan received a message from his old comrade Greg Sanders asking for his aid in bringing together the Seven Soldiers again. (Infinite Frontier v1 #0) The group was brought together by the new Crimson Avenger Jill Carlyle who inherited the cursed guns of her predecessor. (Stargirl Spring Break Special v1 #1)
