Biography
Herman Schultz
With his suit, he attacked a building in order to rob from a safe where he used his vibro-smashers to break it in order to steal the money inside. Shocker initiated his actions by breaking into a high-security office building at night, where he used his vibro-shock gauntlets to blast open a massive steel safe. He successfully neutralised a security guard who attempted to intervene, using a concussive blast to knock the individual unconscious. It was then that he was confronted by Spider-Man who was attracted to the scene by the attack. The two were engaged in a physical confrontation, during which he utilised his gauntlets to keep the hero at a distance with repeated vibrational bursts. He demonstrated the power of his weaponry by destroying a stone chimney and several walls to create obstacles for his opponent. During the fight, he successfully incapacitated Spider-Man by pinning him against a wall with a sustained vibrational frequency, causing the hero to lose consciousness due to the intense pressure and shaking. Shocker then departed the scene with his stolen loot, retreating to a hidden lair to maintain his equipment. He later resurfaced to conduct another robbery at a bank, once again using his gauntlets to bypass the vault doors and engage law enforcement. He concluded his actions by engaging in a final struggle with Spider-Man, attempting to use the vibrations of his suit to prevent being restrained by webbing before he was ultimately overpowered. The Shocker became a member of the Masters of Evil with Radioactive Man, Tiger Shark, Moonstone, and the Beetle to incriminate Dr. Henry Pym, who was then on trial for treason. Unfortunately they were defeated by the Avengers. (Avengers v1 #228)
Afterwards, the Shocker was hired by the Nazi war criminal Baron von Lunt to kill Dominic Fortune, and built the vibro-shock units into his entire uniform to do so. (Web of Spider-Man v1 #10)
During one of his team-ups with Doctor Octopus, he joined a new Masters of Evil and participated in a raid on Avengers Mansion, hoping to help conquer it as the heroes were distracted by the events of the Infinity War. Shocker was forced to fight alongside the heroes called the Guardians of the Galaxy when alien doubles of both sides attacked. After the doubles stopped coming, Octopus tried to order Shocker and the others to continue fighting the heroes but instead, they turned on him. When Kaine was going around killing Spider-Man's enemies, several of his rogues joined together as the Sinister Seven to defend themselves, including the Shocker. (Spider-Man Unlimited v1 #9)
Later on, the Purple Man looked to establish a secret criminal empire in New York City where he started a venture called Villains For Hire. This saw him operating as control as he directed a team of hired supervillains with Shocker being among their ranks. (Villains for Hire v1 #1)
