Personality and attributes
In appearance, Sirius Black was a tall, well-built, darkly handsome human man with fair skin, medium, lustrous black hair. The long years in Azkaban made his face gaunt and the lack of grooming resulted in long, dirty hair and yellow teeth where he was compared to being a corpse.
It was said that he had a nasty temper.
At Hogwarts, he was note for being a troublemaker where he remarked that he along with James, Lupin, and Pettigrew were all idiots.
It was shown that he protective of Harry Potter but also encouraged him to take unwise risks.
He was a member of the House of Black that were a once notable Pure-blood Wizarding family. Most of the members of The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black were advocates of blood purity, and many were involved with the Dark Arts. The family motto was "Toujours Pur" (French: "Always/Still Pure") because the Black family was one of the few remaining completely pure blood lineages. After their deaths, he came to be the last heir of the family line.
Bellatrix Lestrange was his cousin from his mothers side of the family.

As a student, he was noted for being clever and lucky as he came to achieve the Animagus transformation in his first year whereby he could turn into a different animal at will. He was noted to be capable of taking the form of a large black dog.
The Black family home was at Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place, London which contained many artefacts of dubious origin and dangerous ability.
Notes
- Sirius Black was created by J. K. Rowling and featured in the setting of the Harry Potter universe.
- On Accio Quote!, J. K. Rowling commented on the character, "Sirius, to me, he's kind of on the edge, do you not get that feeling from Sirius? He's a little bit of a loose cannon... But Sirius had his flaws — I've sort of discussed that before — some quite glaring flaws. I see Sirius as someone who was a case of arrested development. I think you see that from his relationship with Harry in “Phoenix.” He kind of wants a mate from Harry, and what Harry craves is a father. Harry's kind of outgrowing that now. Sirius wasn't equipped to give him that."
