Biograph
Skarlet was a female warrior who was native to the realm of Outworld. She was created because the emperor trusted only those fighters that were his own creation. One account held that she was created when blood was gathered from warriors across countless battlefields which was fused together through sorcery in order to create a highly effective enforcer. However, another account said that she was an orphan and a starving wretch until Shao Kahn anointed her in blood. She came to be an expert tracker and was sent to hunt down enemies of her master. The Emperor then appointed to her a new mission which was to discover the true intentions of Quan Chi and kill him if he planned to betray Shao Kahn. She was unable to discern the sorcerers true intentions and thus failed to prevent the death of Kahn during the invasion of Earthrealm. During the Earthrealm invasion, Skarlet operated as Shao Kahn’s hidden enforcer, specifically tasked with monitoring the sorcerer Quan Chi due to the Emperor’s growing suspicion of his ally's true motives. In the bloody years that followed Kahn's fall, she aligned herself with the usurper Reiko during the Outworld Civil War, serving as a key player in his quest to claim the Kamidogu daggers. During this conflict, she ruthlessly exploited the Blood Code to empower herself and corrupt others, eventually engaging in a brutal confrontation with Mileena. Though Skarlet proved to be a formidable combatant, she was ultimately outmanoeuvred when Ermac telekinetically bound her, allowing Mileena to shatter and sever her legs, leaving her crippled and fading into the shadows.
When Kronika altered time, a version of Skarlet was drawn from the past alongside other slain warriors. She accompanied Shao Kahn and the others as they retreated through the portal held open by D'Vorah as she brought them into an alliance with Kronika. Skarlet remained largely absent from history until a temporal merger brought a past version of her into the present, where she immediately resumed her role as a loyal protector of the restored Shao Kahn. Stationed at Baraka's war camp, she used her mastery of Hemomancy to torture Jade, draining her of life force until she was interrupted by the arrival of Kitana, Liu Kang, and Kung Lao in disguise. After seeing through their ruse, Skarlet engaged Kitana in a duel within the Koliseum, where she fiercely mocked the princess's "weak" Edenian bloodline. Despite her fanaticism and blood-fuelled sorcery, she was defeated by Kitana’s superior skill and vanished once more, her ultimate fate left unknown as the Sands of Time were reset.
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Skarlet was an exceptionally sleek, athletic, and fair-skinned female warrior who possessed sharp features, intense dark eyes, and a highly nimble, muscular frame. To firmly align her visual presence with the blood-based elements of her biological creation, her custom tournament battle wardrobe was entirely defined by an aggressive, crimson-red aesthetic. She dressed in a form-fitting, minimalist red and black bodysuit accented by intersecting fabric straps wrapped tightly across her midsection and lower torso. She wore long, matching red wrappings along her shins and forearms, paired with practical, low-profile black boots designed for absolute speed on the battlefield. To maintain the traditional, uniform look of the Emperor's elite shadow assassins, she completely concealed her lower face beneath a tight-fitting red fabric mask. Her dark hair was pulled securely back into a tight bun, and she wore a pair of sleek metallic sheaths strapped firmly across her lower back to house her dual combat daggers, presenting a bright, highly theatrical, and menacing silhouette.
Her talents led to her being appointed as an Imperial Bodyguard in the empire. She was Shao Kahn's most devoted servant with her having a desire for his praise. This led to her being considered his deadliest and most faithful creation. She was also noted for being an expert tracker who preyed on those deemed as enemies of the empire.
Powers and abilities
Skarlet was actually artificial being created from the blood of warriors from countless battlefields that were fused together with sorcery. As such, she belonged to an artificial, sorcery-born variant of the Outworlder race, which naturally granted her the biological traits of an extraordinarily extended lifespan and an organic structure completely sustained by blood magic. Her unique, magically fused physiology allowed her body to process the lifeforce of deceased enemies directly through her skin to exponentially amplify her physical strength and stamina during intense battles. She did not possess direct innate god-like reality warping, passive organic flight, or natural energy manipulation, relying instead on her enhanced muscle density, advanced imperial tracking intellect, and elite hand-to-hand martial combat training under the direct instruction of Shao Kahn to track down and eliminate targeted enemies of the empire.
Skarlet possessed absolute, flawless mastery over a highly lethal form of hemokinesis and weaponized blood manipulation derived from Shao Kahn's dark sorcery. Her mystical physiology allowed her to manipulate her own cellular structure, giving her the unique capability to liquefy her entire body into a pool of fluid blood to seamlessly execute teleportation maneuvers or slip into an intangible state to completely evade incoming projectile strikes. This magical control allowed her to condense and fire concentrated, orb-shaped projectiles made of blood directly at distant opponents, though launching these heavy projectiles required her to temporarily sacrifice a portion of her own vital health reserves to fuel the attack.
Her talents include being an expert tracker with her preying on those deemed as enemies of the empire. She actually drew strength from her foe's blood that she was able to absorb through her skin.
Skilled in magic, she was noted for being a blood mage. In fact, she had claimed that she was a master of blood magic. Her magic allowed her to create blood constructs such as tentacles or shapeless masses of blood.
Skarlet possessed an extraordinary, gore-fueled array of supernatural attributes and close-quarters martial arts skills achieved entirely through her unique, blood-empowered physiology. Her primary combat asset was the capability of absolute liquid manipulation, allowing her to instantaneously reshape her own biological fluid or the spilled blood of her adversaries into physical, razor-sharp weaponry. On the battlefield, she could project high-velocity blood daggers to impale targets from a distance, discharge concussive crimson energy spheres, and liquefy her physical form into an un-seeable puddle to materialize instantly beneath an opponent's guard. She possessed an unnatural level of superhuman speed and agility, allowing her to execute complex acrobatic flips and rapid, dual-bladed slicing combinations with absolute mechanical precision. Furthermore, her greatest power was a parasitic cellular empowerment matrix; whenever she was splattered with the fresh blood of a wounded foe, her baseline physical strength and kinetic durability multiplied exponentially, accelerating her reflex speeds and rendering her progressively more unstoppable as a skirmish became more violent.
Her mastery over Hemomancy allowed her to remain undetected, effectively becoming a living weapon that could regenerate from the very life force of those she slaughtered.
In combat, she was known to wield kodachi swords and use kunai knives against her enemies. Skarlet possessed elite dual-wielding swordsmanship and acrobatic ninja weapon mastery that allowed her to maximize bloodletting during close-quarters combat. She utilized a highly specialized tactical arsenal, wielding a pair of curved kodachi swords alongside a set of thrown kunai knives with hyper-acute speed and precision to lacerate the defenses of her targets. This technical weapon proficiency allowed her to execute high-speed slashing combinations, dive across long distances to initiate aerial drop attacks, and seamlessly incorporate rapid knee strikes and low slides to shatter an opponent's center of gravity before they could establish a defensive block.
