Steel Spider is a male comic superhero who features in Marvel Comics.

Biography

Ollie Osnick was a male human who was born in the modern age.

It was believed that he had retired until the Civil War when Spider-Man went on run from the authorities. This led to Osnick returning back to his identity as the Steel Spider where he started fighting crime on the streets. This caused to a number of incidents with people suffering from broken bones and other injuries. (Thunderbolts v1 #113) It was this activity that drew the attention of the Thunderbolts who were dispatched to apprehend Osnick for being an unregistered superhero. At that moment, he was approached by the American Eagle who had come to talk the Steel Spider to reduce his vigilante activity as it was scaring the public. Steel Spider came to convince the American Eagle to aid him in battling the Thunderbolts who then battled the pair. (Thunderbolts v1 #114)

  • Ollie Osnick was created by Bill Mantlo and Ed Hannigan where he made his first appearance in Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man v1 #72 (November, 1982).
  • He later appeared as Spider-Kid in the Amazing Spider-Man v1 #263 (April, 1985).
  • The character then debuted as Steel Spider in Spider-Man Unlimited v1 #5 (May, 1994).

Television

  • In Spider-Man, Ollie Osnick appeared in the setting of the 2017 animated television series starting in the episode "The Rise of Doc Ock" where he was voiced by actor Josh Keaton. This version was shown as a young student whose scientific mind led to him being enrolled at the Osborn Academy with him being an admirer of the work of Doctor Otto Octavius.
