History
The Stone Mask was created long ago by Kars of the ancient race of beings known as the Pillar Men. It was created with the singular task at awakening the potential of the Pillar Men to resist the sun. However, whilst it was able to unlock potential among humans, the Stone Mask lacked the power to successfully to do so with a Pillar Man. This was due to it holding insufficient power for the task but Kars concluded that if he could get a large light amplifying Red Stone of Aja then the Stone Mask could complete its purpose at transforming the Pillar Men into the ultimate beings. At some point, the Pillar Men became petrified in tombs and waited the centuries to be reawakened with Kars intending to reclaim the Red Stone. Numerous Stone Masks were present in these tombs such as the one present in Mexico. One such Stone Mask was discovered in Aztec ruins by the father of Will A. Zeppeli who was a young boy at the time of tye journey. Whilst on a ship, the elder Zeppeli put on the mask and was turned into a vampire who slaughtered the crew. Will Zeppeli survived and vowed to destroy the Stone Mask with him learning the art of the Ripple (Hamon). Another mask was discovered by British nobleman George Joestar who took the relic back to the United Kingdom where it hung on the walls of his manor estate. He was completely unaware of the true nature of the ancient artifact that was present on the walls of his home.
At the Joestar estate, an angry Jonathan Joestar fought with Dio Brando where he managed to land several blows against his foe. This caused blood to spill on the Stone Mask that fell on the floor and activated but no one was exposed to its power. The moment did, however, trigger the interest of Jonathan Joestar who developed an expertise in archaeology where he began to study the Stone Mask. When he reached adulthood, Jonathan Joestar continued his study of the ancient relic. Dio Brando later took it in secret to learn its secrets where he tested it on a person on an isolated street. The individual was transformed into a vampire who nearly killed Dio but was killed when he was exposed to the morning sun. With this new knowledge, Brando returned to the Joestar residence only to discover the police present with Jonathan Joestar who discovered that Dio was poisoning his father George Joestar. Facing the police, Dio faced imprisonment and it was then that he decided to reject his humanity. He attempted to murder Jonathan only to had stabbed George Joestar instead and in that moment placed the blood on the Stone Mask that he wore. As a result, Dio Brando was transformed into a vampire when he was shot by the police officers but this proved to be futile as he simply arose as an undead being that immediately attacked everyone in the manor. It was only the effort of Jonathan Joestar did it appear that Dio was killed in the fire that claimed the family home but the vampire Brando had survived in the wreckage of the manor.
Overview
Typically, it remained inert and inactive where it simply was a mask to others. However, upon exposure to a small amount of blood did the Mask react where spikes protruded from the side that embedded themselves into the head. These spikes activated pressure points in the human body through acupuncture with it unlocking abilities of a human by turning them into a vampire. The transformation occurred with moments with the wearer developed the supernatural abilities of an undead vampire along with a desire to feed on humans. Its true purpose was unlocking the potential of the Pillar Men to survive in the sun but it lacked the power to conduct such a task by itself. As such, the Mask needed to be paired with a sufficiently powerful Red Stone of Aja to be able to conduct such a power.
