Takeshi Kido

Takeshi Kido is a male anime and manga character who features in Killing Bites.

Biography

Takeshi Kido (Japanese: 城戸 剛, Hepburn: Kido Takeshi) was a male human born in Japan. His mother, who was said to be a prostitute by his father, taught him to care greatly for plants as if they were his own mother. After she died from unknown reasons, his alcoholic abusive father broke and damaged the pot of flowers that Kido's mother left for her son to take care of by him. Whilst growing up, he was noted to had killed his abusive father. He learns how to defends his plant and was happy to stay home. His abusive father frustrated was takes down the nature and gets him after he lost his money. His nowhere to be affiliated by them but to brutalizes all of the kindness that it was not the mother.

At some point, it was known that he went through the operation to become a Therianthrope where he killed people leading to his arrest. Whilst in his prison cell, he cared for a small plant and remained there in silence. It was during this time that Yōko Mitsukado approached him as she wanted him to operate as the Brute for the Mitsukado zaibatsu in the upcoming Destroyal tournament. She decided to provide an enticement for Kido by stating that Hitomi Uzaki was participating in the Killing Bites match and that her being an Origin Beast made her an abomination against nature. Takeshi thus willingly joined the match and bent the bars of his cell in order to participate in the match so that he could return Hitomi to nature.

He then attempted to land a killing blow on Ratel who at the last second used a burst of speed to escape and when Pangolin attempted to recover she threw her severed arm at his head with the claws extended. This left a wound by the side of his head that injured Kido and by the time he removed it to recover he could see that Hitomi had jumped at him ready to kill him. In those last moments, he smiled as he saw her smiling face and called out to his mother at which point she pushed her remaining arm through his mouth. The grievous injury saw Kido fall to the ground seemingly killed and leaving Ratel the victor who collapsed from the strain of the battle. However, Pangolin despite his brain being heavily damaged to stand up again potentially making him the winner of the Destroyal but Cheetah landed the final killing blow on him thus finally ending his life.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Kido was a tall muscular bald headed man with a tattoo by the side of his head. Above his right eye was a red tattoo which was often obscured by him wearing a green hooded coat which he wears draped over his shoulders like a cape. In his hybrid form, his body becomes covered in keratin scales which cover him like armor plates and his eyes glow green. When in berserk mode his scales stick out like blades and his eyes turn dark orange. When he was younger, he used to have black hair. During Killing Bite matches, he was often referred to by the name of the animal he was based on which was Pangolin.

He appears mostly stoic showing very little emotion. He's an extreme environmentalist, and whenever someone damages so much as a tree around him, he will brutally slaughter them even if they are his allies. Kido's fondness for plants comes from his early broken childhood. His mother, who was said to be a prostitute by his father, taught him to care greatly for plants as if they were his own mother. After she died from unknown reasons, his alcoholic abusive father broke and damaged the pot of flowers that Kido's mother left for her son to take care of. Broken and enraged by this, he murdered his father in cold blood, beating him with a baseball bat to death saying that he would protect his 'mother', referring to the plants.

It was shown that he had a deep respect and reverence towards nature. This was to the extent that if he saw nature being damaged then the perpetrator earned his enmity. None were spared his wrath in such moments with both enemy and even allies subject to his rage. In such times, he became fixated in killing his enemies with him determined to return them to nature whereby he bludgeoned their bodies repeatedly with the aim of turning them into fertiliser to feed the plants. Kido's entire basis for participating in the Destroyal was because he deemed Hitomi as an abomination and that she needed to be destroyed.

His reverence and respect towards nature stemmed from his love towards his mother who told him that in any plant he could see her eyes. As such, any plant that was smashed or destroyed felt like harm towards his mother which was why Kido responded wildly to such actions. When his father destroyed his plant, Kido responded by killing him with a bat when he was a child. In one occasion, he accidently himself destroyed some plants and trees causing Kido to fall into an incredible rage. In that moment, he became uncaring of the plants as he became fixated on destroying his enemy.

Youko convinced him into participating in the Destroyale by telling him that Brute Ratel was a crime to mother nature created by the experiments of a madman called Shidou Reiichi.

Powers and abilities

As a Therianthrope, he was genetically bonded with an animal breed which in his case was a Pangolin. Such was his strength that even in his human state that he was incredibly powerful with him being able to withstand the physical strikes from other Therianthropes and his punches could easily kill them. In his human form, he could manifest his powerful tail that he could use to spear through an opponents flesh or knock with incredible force to either kill them or wound a foe. During more serious battles, Kido manifested his proper Therianthrope form where he became encased in armored plates and he developed claws on his hands. With his claws, he thrust his arm forward at a foe in order to spear them to deliver a fatal strike. To evade attacks, he could collapse his body around himself thus encasing himself in a ball making him completely covered by his armored plates. In this state, he could not be harmed by an attacker with Kido completely protected from harm. This allowed him to shift to defensive in a fight to protect him an upcoming attack. However, in this position, a strong opponent could feasibly knock him around like kicking a ball into other objects. He could shift the plates on his surface though to trap the limbs of an attacker inside his shell allowing him to keep them pinned or severing the limb if they attempted to make prolonged contact with his shell. Pangolin could also move out his tail in an attempt to hit his opponent if they were caught off guard. It was said that his offensive, defensive and explosive ability was so high that it made him outclass other Brutes.

When using his curling ability, Kido is unable to control himself should his opponents make him roll. When angry, he could activate his abilities further causing the bristle armor plates to project outwards making his entire body appear to be sharp allowing him to cut through attackers. Kido is capable curling himself into a ball, just like the actual pangolins do, to completely protect himself from attacks as well as roll over his enemies. He's also capable of opening his defense slightly in order to trick his enemies into attacking him, thus trapping their limbs inside his defense. As a result he's able to roll and perform a guillotine-like counterattack, thus severing the trapped limbs of his enemies.

An altered stage of his transformation. As a result of his own damaged psyche, Kido becomes highly unstable when he's indirectly used to damage the environment, such as when Hitomi used his own defensive curl to roll him over with a kick, breaking a couple trees and crushing flowers in the process. In this state, he becomes completely insane, and this affects his transformation as well. His scales perk up like razor blades, akin to a porcupine, and he runs amok relentlessly chasing his enemy to destroy them, not caring about what he tramples over in the process.

Kido's fighting prowess consisted of overwhelming his opponents with his sheer strength, delivering deadly blows that can tear someone in half. Relying on the ability of his transformation, he hardens his skin whenever he's attacked to prevent himself from receiving damage. Like a juggernaut, he would not stop chasing after his enemies, approaching with a very straightforward combat capacity. This becomes worse when his insanity gets the best of him, which, if well exploited, can result in his own demise.

He came to be a member of the Mitsukado Zaibatsu (三門財閥) and served as their star champion in the fighting matches fought between the companies.
