Biography

Origin

First encounter with Terrax in Fantastic Four v1 #211.

Tyros was a male extraterrestrial inhabitant of the planet Birj which was the fifth moon of the gas giant Marman located 80 thousand light years from Earth. By adulthood, he came to be a powerful warlord who ruled the city of Lanlak that was situated in the northern hemisphere of his world. (Fantastic Four v1 #258)

Herald

Tyros managed to reform a physical form for himself where he encountered a band of young superheroes who formed a team later known as the New Warriors. Together, the managed to determine that Terrax's form was unstable and that constant contact with the Earth was needed for him to maintain his body. Thus, they worked together to separate him from the ground thereby causing his body to crumble leading to his defeat. (New Warriors v1 #1)

During the Annihilation War, the forces of the Annihilation Wave emerged from the Negative Zone in order to conquer the positive-matter universe under the direction of Annihilus. In this time, he sought to claim the Power Cosmic and dispatched his Seekers to acquire the Heralds of Galactus. Within the Skrull empire, Terrax was ambushed by the Seekers and their specially bred Currs where they swarmed around him leading to his eventual capture. (Annihilation: Silver Surfer v1 #2)

Whilst returning to the Wave, the worms controlling him and his compatriots began to weaken allowing them to free themselves. Thus, Terrax regained control of his mind and in a rage caused a large explosion that destroyed his captors vessel. This left only him, Paibok and the Infant Terrible alive though the pair were weakened following their extended captivity. The three crashed on a nearby world where they were saved from the wreckage by a Centaurian woman named Chandra who was revealed to had been enslaved by Randau the Space Parasite who had taken numerous slaves to the planet. Thus, Chandra asked for the three in aiding to defeat the tyrant leading to Terrax agreeing and even ready to charge the enemy then and there despite the protestations of Paibok. Ultimately, he decided to wait for the next day where they launched a surprise attack against Randau. The Space Parasite then confronted them where he absorbed the Infant Terrible's energies whilst dispatching Paibok with ease. Terrax then attempted to overload his foe with the Power Cosmic but Randau dined on the energy he absorbed whereupon he killed Chandra. In response, Terrax killed Randau by using his axe to cleave his body in half. With the Space Parasite slain, the people of the world were offered freedom but they could not contemplate a life without a master. In anger, Terrax determined that Chandra was the only person that was deserving on the planet and used his power to shatter the world thus killing the people. Only Terrax, Paibok and the Infant Terrible survivied with Tyros warning the others never to approach him again otherwise he would kill them without hesitation after which he departed into space. (Annihilation: Heralds of Galactus v1 #1)

He then arrived on Earth to conquer it where he faced opposition from the Superior Spider-Man though despite his opponents strength he was easily overpowered and nearly killed by Terrax. This was until his pider-Man foe managed to use trickery to place a device that drained some of the Power Cosmic from the former Herald's body. The energy was used to empower the Superior Spider-Man so that he could fight his opponent more evenly. (Superior Spider-Man v2 #2)
