Terror (Master of the World)
The Terror was a vehicle designed and built by Robur. It was a vehicle capable of going on land, sea and air, either by transforming into a car for driving, a submarine for traversing the water, or an airship for flying in the sky. In a letter posted to the US government, Robur, naming himself "Master of the World," revealed his intention to use the Terror to subjugate the various nations of the world.
Robur was seemingly quite capable of doing as he promised, as, in addition to a considerable arsenal, the Terror was capable of speeds unheard of, able to outdistance US Navy warships and all other existing automobiles of the time.
However, Robur grew too confident of his ship's superiority. In defiance of nature itself, he flew the Terror into a raging hurricane en route from the Great Eyrie to his base on Island X. A lightning bolt hit the vessel and the strong winds tore off its wings. The Terror plunged into the sea, taking captain, first mate and helmsman with it. Only Federal Police inspector John Strock, a prisoner aboard, survived.
