History

The Spree were a terrorist organization of witches that had been formed prior to the 1990s by Nicte Batan. Originally, they were loosely independent cells that coordinated guerrilla resistance against the conscription of witches into the military on a global level. Their first confirmed attack was said to had taken place in 1997 where gradually they switched to mass destruction tactics. This included using balloons to spread sound curses and other forbidden works to mass murder civilian populations. It was known that the Spree ha trapped a platoon of soldiers led by Petra Bellweather in a Greenville bunker with a storm song after detecting their arrival. A firefight broke out between the two groups with Willa Collar being allegedly killed. Unknown to anyone, Willa had actually survived the attack and came to join the ranks of the Spree.

On Conscription Day, Scylla Ramshorn who was a cadet at Fort Salem went to the Spree armory in Baylord Auto where she joined them. She received a balloon and instructions to attack a shopping mall to mass casualties of civilians. Despite her reservations, she participated in the attack where she was responsible for killing 1600 people by causing them to jump to their deaths. She later received orders unknowingly from Willa to get close to her daughter Raelle Collar in order to bring her into the Spree. Afterwards, the Spree conducted an attack on a French cruise where they caused he passengers to commit suicide. Another Spree cell used a plague bomb in an attack on the British embassy which killed 233 people and injured 91 others in the most horrific of ways.

Overview

In appearance, the Spree were a radical militant organisation consisting of a stateless army of witches with no great leader and no field army. Instead, they were composed of parallel hierarchies and clandestine cell systems designed to collapse under scrutiny. As an organization, they were noted for being savage and ruthless where they often orchestrated attacks on civilians. (Episode: Say the Words) Individually, they were said to appear normal in every way making them difficult to detect. (Episode: My Witches)

They were opposed to the global military industrial complex and sought to dismantle it as they viewed it as systemic tyranny of witches. As such, they believed the Salem Accords had enslaved witches and sought to liberate their kind from around the world and to stop the use of witches to fight in a nation's war. It was said that they preyed on the ideologically vulnerable in order to recruit them to their cause. (Episode: Say the Words) It was said that the Spree did not target witches unless they were collateral in an attack. Instead, their general focus was on civilians and they were said to hardly ever attack their own. (Episode: Up Is Down)

The Spree had the ability to change their appearance and take on the form of another person which they used as part of infiltration operations. (Episode: Citydrop) They were noted to use sound to carry and spread curses to the general public as part of a terrorist attack. (Episode: Say the Words) The spree were shown to be capable of using balloons as a means of communicating with one another and used them to deliver messages. (Episode: Citydrop)
