Biography

Toru Sayonaki, the human guise of Vlad.

Count Vlad Dracula (Japanese: ヴラドドラキュラ) was a powerful being who had lived for centuries and had conducted experiments at making himself more powerful. Initially, Vlad was one of many feral Ogre Vampires living centuries before the start of the series. At some point he consumed human blood and slowly began to develop human levels of self awareness and intelligence as he drank more and more human blood. Eventually, his consciousness fully developed but he still required constant human blood as a crutch in order to retain it. Initially he ruled as a prince of Wallachia, donning the name of Vlad, in order to keep a fresh supply of blood through brutal conquest. However it proved only to be a temporary means of retaining his consciousness. His solution came in the form of a completely human shell in order to seal Vlad. Through this, Vlad was able to slow down his deterioration while retaining the ability to return to his true form through neural stimulation. Taking the form of Tooru Sayonaki, he would live on for many centuries now only seldom needing blood to survive. For reasons unknown, Vlad in his true form would fight two descendants of Jeanne d'Arc and Arsene Lupin on top of the freshly build Eiffel Tower. During the second World War, Vlad would come face to face with Sherlock Holmes himself and join IU as his second-in-command. As more joined, Vlad began developing a means to share everyone's talents with each other and through the use of Kana's blood, he successfully developed a means to let members copy the passive genetic abilities of other members.

Such was his reputation that he was considered a myth to others. He later joined I.U. where his strength made him the second most powerful member of the organization. Vlad was also responsible for framing Aria Holmes Kanzaki's mother that led to her being imprisoned

Sayonaki created a laboratory underground and was engaged in various acts of genetic experiments that included breeding new strains of flowers. He also began operating as a teacher at the Butei High School where numerous of the female students being smitten with him due to his handsome features.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Toru Sayonaki resembled an ordinary human being with blue hair and wore glasses with handsome features. This was actually a disguise for his true identity as Sayonaki was simply his outward appearance with his actual form being that of a large werewolf-like entity.

As Sayonaki, he operated as a foreign university graduate and part time instructor in the Ambulance department at Butei High. He was shown to be very polite and used honorific speech all the time which contributed to his popularity at the school.

Vlad as a vampire assimilated DNA in order to survive yet also to gain more power, Through assimilation of human blood, he eventually took on the form of a human, although he can revert back to his beast form by activating Hysteria Mode. The current look he has is due to the many DNAs he took which also had the side effect of creating the Sayonaki persona. This is why Sayonaki always refers to Vlad as a separate individual that he's destined never to meet. He has a sadist fetish, so abusing someone is necessary to activate Vlad, which is why he imprisoned Riko Mine completely naked and abused her in an underground dungeon. In the Light Novels he tells Riko, Kinji Tohyama and Aria H. Kanzaki that due to living so long all other forms of stimulus aren't enough to summon Vlad anymore because he got too used to them and therefore can't get worked up enough to trigger the change.

His goal was seeking superior genetic material in order to add it to his collection.

Despite his polite appearance, in reality he was shown to be a cruel and sadistic person. After kidnapping Riko, he learnt that the girl did not inherit the genetic traits of the Lupin bloodline. This led to Vlad treating Riko as being a worthless failure where he kept her in a locked dirty cell, kept her in this abusive state for a long period of time where she could do nothing but sit and constantly berate her for being useless all whilst she was still grieving her parents death. Vlad stated that once he caught her, he would return Riko to that imprisoned state and mentioned that the only use she had was as breeding stock as it was possible with the right partner she could produce a child with the active traits of the Lupin bloodline.

Powers and abilities

As Toru Sayonaki, he appeared as an ordinary human being who was a skilled geneticist that was able to conduct large scale research. On one occasion, he was shown to be skilled in the use of a taser allowing him to knock out targets with a single shot. He had a number of Caucasian Silver Wolves at his command that were trained to follow his orders.

His human form was said to be only a persona and shell for his actual form of Vlad. The transformation into his true form required pain, despair and hopelessness being inflicted on another. At the height of those feelings, Sayonaki turned into his true identity of Vlad and grew into his large form. In this identity, he was much stronger allowing him to lift large objects to use as bludgeons against his enemies. Vlad as also able to make a powerful roar whose sonic wave sent others flying backwards due to its strength. Vlad's howl was also able to somehow knock out a person in the midst of hysteria mode. His greatest power was the fact that he could regenerate from his wounds instantly.

Despite his various strengths, he did have one weakness that neutralized his regenerative powers. This was four spots on his body that if shot at the same time disabled him. These spots were situated on his two shoulders, his chest and finally in his mouth.
