Triskelion is a place that features in Marvel Comics.

History

The Triskelion was a structure established in New York City that was to be a hub for joint operations conducted between the Wakandan embassy, the ground crew of the Alpha Flight space program and the new Ultimates superhero team. Its unveiling was presented to the United Nations by the Black Panther T'Challa where he intended for it to serve as a means of finding solutions to big problems. (Ultimates v2 #1)

Overview

The name was Greek which referred to three lines that radiated from a central hub. It served as a place for the Wakandan Embassy, the Alpha Flight program and the Ultimates. (Ultimates v2 #1)

It was located between Manhattan and Brooklyn in the Upper New York Bay area on Governors Island at the mouth of the East River. (Karnak v1 #6)

Notes

  • The Triskelion was created by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch where it made its first appearance in Ultimates v1 #2 (April 2002).

Alternate Versions

  • In Ultimates v1 #2 (2002), the Triskelion made its first appearance in the alternate universe setting of Ultimate Marvel on Earth-1610.

In other media

Television

  • In Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Triskelion was mentioned in a number of episodes in the television series that was part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was referenced in the episodes "The Hub", "T.A.H.I.T.I." and "End of the Beginning". The destruction of the site was mentioned by Victoria Hand in the episode "Turn, Turn, Turn".
  • In Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors, the Triskelion made an appearance in the episode "New Warriors" where it was shown to be the location of S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy. In "S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy", the Triskelion's academy was shown to hold Robert Frank as it's teacher with Captain America and Hawkeye as guest teachers.

Films

  • In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the Triskelion was introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe where it was S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Washington D.C. Headquarters. It was situated on Theodore Roosevelt Island at the foot of the Roosevelt Bridge with it being taken over by Alexander Pierce who took over Project: Insight in order to use its Helicarriers to eliminate people that Hydra deemed a threat. During the course of events, it was destroyed by a disabled Helicarrier.
  • In Ant-Man, the Triskelion was shown in the movie that was part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe where it was shown under construction in 1989 when Hank Pym resigned from S.H.I.E.L.D.

Video games

  • In Marvel: Avengers Academy, the Triskelion appeared in the setting of the mobile video game.
