Biography

Tristan Liones.

Tristan Liones (Japanese: トリスタン・リオネス, Hepburn: Torisutan Rionesu) was the son of Meliodas and Elizabeth Liones making their child a prince of the Kingdom of Liones.

On his 10th birthday, Tristan heard one of the maids talk about the Seven Deadly Sins meeting in the castle that same night. Ignoring the truth about them and only knowing that they were criminals who were once exiled from the kingdom, Tristan assumes that they intend to take control of Liones. He then runs off to call other children of the kingdom telling them that as a Holy Knight who protects the peace of Liones it is his duty to capture them. When his friends do not take any of his words seriously, Tristan decides to go to the castle and ambush them on his own. There, he is surprised by Elizabeth who was looking for him, which worries Tristan for having been discovered by the Sins. Meliodas and the Sins introduced themselves but, although everyone is friendly with him, Tristan is suspicious stating that he knows they intend to do a coup d'etat. Everyone takes it as him trying to play hero, even Meliodas jokes about acting like a villain to falsely prove his son's suspicion. Tristan was then taken outside where the entire kingdom has gathered to celebrate his birthday. Although Tristan insists that his father is the leader of some villains, Ban tells him that if so, the people of the kingdom would not admire him the way they do. Tristan sticks to his ideas by highlighting all of his father's bad habits. Gowther then uses his powers to give him a special gift: to show him the true story of the Seven Deadly Sins. The next day, Tristan goes to a picnic with his parents. After a sword training session with Meliodas, he tells him that his future expands like heaven and that he does not have to become a king, which may be what he decides, even a Holy Knight. Tristan then says that he has already decided: he will be one of the Seven Deadly Sins. During this time, Tristan met Lancelot, Ban's son. During a sparring match, Tristan awakened his demonic power for the first time, ultimately wounding Lancelot and leaving a permanent scar on his head. Tristan was very affected by this event, refusing when Lancelot asked him for another fight for fear of hurting him again.

After having a nightmare about a time in wich he injured Lancelot during a training after losing control of his demon powers, Tristan spends the day learning to ride with Gowther while stopping to heal some injured citizens with his Goddess power. At dinner he has an argument with Meliodas for neglecting his training in favor of learning other things like herbology from Hendrickson leading Tristan to deny wanting to be what he did as a child and that his father is not able to understand him. A conversation with his mother clarifies that he can be a Holy Knight who helps people and not just fight, although there may come a time when he has to simply fight to protect others. The next day, Tristan finds out that his mother has been cursed and Hendrickson is unable to help her. Hearing that only a Goddess could break the curse, Tristan decides to try, discovering the identity of the one cursing his mother. Despite failing to stop the curse, Tristan finds the location of the perpetrator and sets out there. On the way, he finds a group of giants and fairies being attacked by an Empty. Tristan fights and defeats it, but gets upset when one the fairies kills it when this one was about to ambush him, but is later revealed that the Empty was never alive since it was a mere puppet. Upon hearing that many giants and fairies have been kidnapped and taken to the place he is going, Tristan decides to go along his new friends to rescue them.

The mysterious fairy explains that they are leading to Edinburgh, a fallen kingdom only inhabited by its king, Deathpierce. Upon arrival they are attacked by an army of Empties and by Deathpierce's subordinate creatures, Knight and Mage, sent by the one who cursed Elizabeth, Priest. Tristan manages to face the Empties but is outmatched by Knight as he is inhibited from unleashing his demonic power. This leads the fairy to kill the creature to save him, revealing himself to actually be Lancelot. After besting the Empties with distant help from Jericho, Lancelot and Tristan face Deathpierce and Priest. Tristan soon finds his magic ineffective due to Deathpierce's Melody power, ending up with a serious gash to his chest. However, Lancelot manages to take care of Deathpierce while Tristan battles Priest. Priest is able to hold his own in a fight against Tristan until Tristan unleashes a portion of his demonic power in the form of Hellblaze. Later, when Priest is distracted by the arrival of Meliodas, Ban and Gowther, Tristan manages to catch him off guard with a surprise attack, incapacitating him and at the same time breaking his curse. When Deathpierce escapes through a dimensional rift, Tristan goes after him with Lancelot behind him. There, seeing himself consumed by his own hatred and his Chaos Staff, Deathpierce turns into a gigantic monster. During the ensuing battle, Lancelot is enraged that Tristan still refuses to use his demonic power, and reminds him that what really bothered him years ago was not that he hurt him, but that he refused to fight anymore because he didn't want to hurt him, which Lancelot take as if Tristan denigrated him. Lancelot promises that if anything happens, he will make sure to stop it because he doesn't plan to lose to him. Finally, after Tristan unleashes the darkness within him and defeats Deathpierce, Lancelot confronts him and knocks him unconscious with his Shining Road.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Tristan Liones resembled a male human who closely resembles both of his parents. He had the same face and hairstyle as his father Meliodas, although his hair was long and silver like his mother Elizabeth. It was shown that he had heterochromia where his right eye was blue like Elizabeth's and his left green like Meliodas's. At 16 years old, he was shown to be taller than both his parents and wearing a blue earring closely resembling Elizabeth’s on his right ear.

Tristan was a very energetic and tenacious boy.

He expressed no appreciation about the role of prince, instead preferring to defend his kingdom as a Holy Knight. He holds a great sense of justice and feels the need to protect his kingdom any threats, including his father and the Seven Deadly Sins for their framed actions. Later, Tristan is introduced to the story of the Sins, making him want to follow in his father's heroic footsteps.

After accidentally injuring Lancelot with his Demon powers, Tristan became traumatized by incident and developed distaste for violence and the said power, and by extension any association with it or even being compared to his father at it. Instead, Tristan becomes more of a pacifist like his mother, and enjoys any comparison to her. He also prefers using his Goddess powers during combat. Nevertheless, he is not hesitant to use force when need arises.

Powers and abilities

As the son of Meliodas and Elizabeth, Tristan has possessed above average combat skills since the age of 10, both with bare hands or with a sword. Even Gowther finds he possesses an impressive Power Level for a boy of his age. At 16 years old, his fighting skills seem to have greatly improved. He was also shown to have inherited Goddess powers from his mother and Demon powers from his father, which he could manifest either separately or simultaneously.
