Biography

Tyr Odinson was a male member of the race of Asgardians where he was the eldest son of Odin that was born after the loss of the firstborn Aldrif. (Angela: Queen of Hel v1 #3)

With Thor gone to Midgard, Tyr decided to use this as an opportunity of confessing his feelings for the Lady Sif. However, she came to reject his advances as she loved Thor. This caused resentment and bitterness in Tyr who decided to evoke an ancient Asgardian law in order to force a confrontation with the god of thunder. (Thor v1 #312)

Within Valhalla, he served the honoured dead even if he was not dead himself. From them, he came to learn about many secrets of the universe which he planned to use to achieve his own goals. Through the dead, he learnt of the Urdoors and managed to escape Valhalla and sought out the tomb of the ancient king Ode who had fallen prey to the Rokkva who were beings of anti-life. (Valkyrie: Jane Foster v1 #9)

With Thor under his control, he travelled to Asgard itself in order to lay siege to it and claim the Golden Throne for himself. This saw him appearing at the Bifrost where Sif also fell under his sway as he battled the Asgardian defenders. The powerless Jane Foster appeared in the battle where her allies allowed the human to get close to Tyr himself in order to fight him. The Asgardian god of war then plunged the white wood sceptre staff into her in an attempt to kill her but then inherent nature of Undrjarn merged with Jane once again turning her into the Valkyrie once more. With her powers restored, she defeated Tyr and told him to release the Rokkva which he complied by letting it loose to destroy Asgard. He then fled using the hidden means of transporting between the realms whilst the Valkyrie stopped and contained the Rokkva. The wounded Tyr then arrived in a remote part of Jotunheim via his secrt portal where Loki found him and offered him shelter in exchange for the new knowledge had had acquired in Valhalla. (Valkyrie: Jane Foster v1 #10)

Personality and attributes

Though regarded as a war god, he claimed to have love in his heart with this being the driving factor for the defence of Asgard as he loved his home. It was the love of it and its citizens that drove him to sacrifice his hand to the Fenris Wolf. Tyr was at one time secretly in love with the Lady Sif though it was a long time before he proclaimed his feelings for the Lady Sif but she rejected him as she loved Thor. (Thor v1 #312)

Powers and abilities

He once wielded the Mace of the Myth-Wars that was used by Odin in defence of the realm. (Thor v1 #312)

From the dead in Valhalla, he came to learn many hidden secrets of the universe. This included knowledge of the Urdoors that were hidden portals between the realms that were hidden from even the sights of the guardian of the Bifrost. (Valkyrie: Jane Foster v1 #9)
