History
The VIRM were a mysterious highly advanced hive-minded species native to an unknown world. Millions of years ago, they achieved interstellar travel and went to worlds where they offered to merge with the native inhabitants. In reality, they forcibly incorporated other species into themselves whereupon they ravaged the resultant world and stole the native technology. Such a process was achieved on thousands of worlds as the VIRM expanded across space. Around 60 million years ago, a vanguard force arrived on Earth where they encountered the native humanoid Klaxosapiens where they offered to merge with the race. However, the Klaxosapiens refused leading to the VIRM using force to achieve their goals as they invaded leading to a centuries long war. The conflict forced the Klaxosapiens to evolve and change to better fight their foes as they transformed themselves into living weapons to battle the VIRM. Ultimately, the VIRM were defeated but the Klaxosaurs knew that their foe was simply a scouting force and thus prepared themselves for the upcoming invasion from their ancient enemy.
Upon arriving on modern day Earth, several of their number disguised themselves as humans and crafted identities to embed them in society. This led to them creating a research organization known as APE that gradually grew to influence mankind.
Overview
In appearance, the VIRM resembled pillars of light and could have masks as representations of their faces. Despite this being their native form, they could take on other humanoid forms that were masked behind heavy layers of clothing to hide their true shape from others.
Their ultimate goal was the assimilation of other life into their hive mind collective. According to them, this was a gift to others as they offered an existence free from strife, discord and hatred. All were thus united under their shared consciousness as they became part of the VIRM. In turn, they received the limitless possibility of evolution that they gained by assimilating other species. As such, they intended to share this perceived gift to the rest of the universe with this being either offered willingly or done so through force.
They were noted for being a highly advanced extraterrestrial species who had achieved interstellar flight. This allowed them to construct warships able to travel through the gulfs of space to conquer other worlds. Such vessels could be armed with a wide range of beam weapons including central cannons designed to obliterate enemy ships.
