History

The Varuga were hybrid monstrous creatures that were created through experiments conducted on humans by shadow organization called Kafka. The secret organization were responsible for the transformation of such people who they called the next stages of evolution. Due to their spread into human society, they came to secretly prey on mankind leading to them being a target of Circus. Circus was unable to restore the humanity of the Varuga and thus eliminated them to free the creatures from this life.

Overview

In appearance, they could appear similar to another human being and showed no external differences that indicated their true nature. However, they could transform their bodies into their respective animal form at any moment. This allowed them to turn their limbs into claws which they could use to eviscerate enemies or manifest wings to allow them to fly. A Varuga's cell regeneration was exponentially faster than a normal humans with devastating injuries capable of being healed in a couple of days. However, there metabolism caused them to feed on other complex organisms in order to maintain their own functions.

There were two ways to create a Varuga; one was by laboratory monitored cell fusion and the other was accidental transmission through tainted blood. People could be transformed into one of these creatures through a regular course of drug treatment with some involving years long regimen.
