History
The Venn Brace was a device constructed in the mid-20th century following contact with the aggressive Zudjari race. These machines were constructed in 1962 following the initial Outsider invasion. It was discovered that the advanced technology used by the aliens was imprinted for their use. This led to the Bureau of Strategic Emergency Command studying the alien weaponry with Doctor Heinrich Dresner leading these efforts. Doctor Dresner later equipped the Venn Brace to Special Agent William Carter who first managed to use it in operating an Outsider scatter laser. Other field agents of the Bureau were similarly equipped with Braces for use in combat engagements against the Outsiders. On the Zudjari homeworld, XCOM agent William Carter was tasked with using the Brace to capture the alien leader known as Origin. However, he encountered the Ethereal that was used to power the Mosaic network and captured it which was taken back to the Bureau's headquarters.
Overview
A Brace was stated to enhance the combat capabilities of its user. Its primary purpose was the use of alien weaponry as the Outsider technology was imprinted for the Zujari. As a result, the Brace was designed to circumvent that security feature and allow the user to operate the alien equipment. This equipment was able to help stun and capture the aliens that included the Outsiders themselves or even Ethereals.
