Vidar is a male comic character that features in Marvel Comics.

Biography

Vidar Odinson was the son of the All-Father Odin and a giantess by the name of Grid. After his birth, the child and his mother were banned from living in the realm of Asgard. This saw Grid raising her half-god son by herself in the outskirts of the kingdom where he grew into adulthood. Few were aware of his existence though Vidar was content with this after he met the giantess Solveig married her with the two living in contentment. (Thor Annual v1 #12)

Overview

Personality and attributes

He was distraught over the death of his wife Solveig with this being the reason he broke the rule that banned him from Asgard. Her death was the reason for meeting his father and petitioning for his aid in getting revenge for the death of his wife. (Thor Annual v1 #12)

Powers and abilities

Vidar was a half-god with part of his parentage being related to the giants of Jotunheim which resulted in his tall stature. (Thor Annual v1 #12)

He made use of an enchanted spear that was able to withstand strikes from Mjolnir. (Thor Annual v1 #12)

  • Vidar was created by Alan Zelenetz and Bob Budiansky where he made his first appearance in Thor Annual v1 #12 (December, 1984).
