Though Joker comes across as suspicious, he intrigues Benimaru enough to follow him. As the pair observe the The Holy Sol Temple – Holy See from a rooftop, he tells Benimaru he wants to uncover the truth the empire is hiding. Setting his eyes on the true sacred scriptures that contain the empire's history, Joker follows Benimaru as he arrives through the compounds front entrance. Defeating the church's elites, Joker looks on as Benimaru is subdued by a member of the church via poison. Benimaru quickly recovers and the pair make their way into the Temple, only to find it empty. As Benimaru Shinmon and Joker explore the underground passages beneath the Holy See, a minimum of eight Shadows approach them from the darkness with their hands in the reverse prayer gesture. The majority of the group battle against Benimaru while the Shadow Captain battles against Joker. Despite their endurance and skill, the Shadows are ultimately beaten by the Captain of Company 7. The captain battles against Joker and is able to overpower him until the criminal's illusions leave him vulnerable. Distracted and separated from the group, the Captain is quickly killed by Joker. With only one death, Leonardo Burns is able to force the Holy Sol to deal with the matter internally and allow Joker and Benimaru to leave peacefully.

The Holy Sol Temple (Japanese: 聖陽教会, Hepburn: Seiyō Kyōkai) was a religious institution that was established on Earth following the Great Cataclysm (大災害, Daisaigai) that devastated the world. In that time, a band of survivors led by Raffles I (ラフルス1世, Rafurusu 1 Sei) came to find an Adolla Burst (アドラバースト, Adora Bāsuto). With it, he helped establish Amaterasu (天照, Amaterasu) that was a thermal generator which was used to power the creation of the Tokyo Empire. One of the founding bodies created in this time was the Holy Sol Temple that established a religion that worshipped the sun who they knew as Sol. Unknown to anyone, Raffles I came to be replaced by a being from another world named Yona who took his place and helped found the Tokyo Empire along with the various founding organizations.
