The Praying Gargoyle was an ancient artifact, a statuette in the shape of a small, praying gargoyle. Demona acquired the statuette sometime before 1980, and hid it within a secret compartment atop Notre Dame Cathedral. She retrieved the Praying Gargoyle in 1980 (killing Charles Canmore along the way), and used it in 1996 as part of her master plan to wipe out humanity with the Fulfillment Spell. The Praying Gargoyle was empowered to protect gargoyles from the blend of CV-1000 and DI-7 that would slay all intelligent life on Earth, until Goliath crushed it.

Team Atlantis

In the incomplete and never-broadcast episode of Team Atlantis titled "The Last," it was revealed that the Praying Gargoyle was created by the people of Atlantis as a gift for the gorlois. The stauette also had a sliver of Atlantean crystal at its center, that enabled it to regenerate from being destroyed. The episode included Demona using the stauette in an attempt to wipe out humanity in 1920, before it was smashed. Demona hid the fragments in the secret compartment at Notre Dame after that, and they regenerated over the next 60 years.

Comments

The Praying Gargoyle's origins in the Team Atlantis episode would suggest that the statuette might regenerate again after Goliath smashed it.
