Marvin Branagh was one of the only RPD officers besides Chief Brian Irons himself to to survive the final siege of the Raccoon Police Dept. by zombies in September of 1998, although not withuout grievous and potentially fatal injuries. He formulated an escape plan, sending fellow officer Rita to get help. During this time, he assisted fellow officer Kevin Ryman escape with several civilian survivors of the T-Virus plague. When Rita returned with Harry and a police van, Marvin, wounded from the zombies, was unable to get into the van before Harry, startled by a zombie, sped off wihout him..
He was discovered barely alive in a trashed office by Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield later that night, and provided them with the keycard required to open the locked doors in the lobby of the RPD, then kicked them out and locked the door after them. They soon learned why when they returned for him. Upon their reentry Marvin succumbed to the T-Virus and turned into a zombie right before their eyes, forcing them to shoot him.
