Deke, "Cisco" to his friends, was a football player who attended Horlicks University. One day he and his three friends Laverne, Randy and Rachel drove out to Cascade Lake in Deke's Chevrolet Camaro to fool around on a raft Randy had seen there a week before. There, they became trapped on the raft by an unknown entity lurking in the water.
After the creature ate Rachel, Deke told the others he was going to make a swim for shore, so as to go and get help. Before he could, however, the viscous monster oozed through the planks of the raft and grabbed one of Deke's feet. The unfortunate student was forcibly pulled through the bottom of the raft, breaking his bones in the process, and sucked into the mass of the monster.
