In real-world science, a clone is a duplicate of an animal or plant grown using genetic material from the original. Broadly, the term "clone" is also used to refer to any exact duplicate of another being, be they living or otherwise.
In the real world, clones can only be birthed in the natural way (after a period of time in a mother's womb), and age at a normal rate of speed (although some appear to have shortened life expectancies). In many fictional universes, however, they can be grown in specialized chambers to age them faster, or even created instantly using advanced science or magic.
