Thus, the population remained static where dead citizens had their genetic material recycled where the Keeper would find a suitable couple to be the parents of a child. Through the use of food additives, they induced a chemical pregnancy in a couple who went for an exam and it was during this time that the clone embryo was implanted in the woman. The parents were thus completely unaware that the child born was simply a dead citizen that was reborn. |
