History
The Irathients were a race of bipedal humanoids that were native to the planet Irath.
At Defiance, the town when it was first founded had over 1,000 Irathients in its population. These Irathients believed in the traditional values of their people and did not believe in vaccinating their children. As a result, many of the children began to die leading to the human Mayor Nicky creating mandatory vaccinations being part of the town charter. As a result, the deputies went from house to house to inoculate the Irathient children by force. This resulted in the Irathients taking up arms and beginning an uprising against the town. However, they were only armed with simple blunt weapons such as clubs whilst the town enforcers had blasters. A number of Irathients were killed during this time with the remaining deciding to leave. The incident led to the town council informally deciding to allowing each of the eight Votan races to honor the traditional values of their people. Despite that being the case, human and Irathient relations were as a result poor in the area around Defiance.
