The Fringe Division was a special branch of the Federal Bureau of Investigations after a series of incidents around the world involving fringe science began appearing which became known as The Pattern. The head of this organization was Phillip Broyles of Homeland Security who assembled a team to handle such cases and worked in conjunction with leading scientific company Massive Dynamics to combat this unknown threat to the world.
