On the surface, Zenitsu often came across as a coward where he claimed that he did not have long to live due to his dangerous work as a Demon Slayer.
Despite his strength, it was shown that he had a low self-esteem. He was said to had hated himself more than anyone else as he always thought he needed to get his act together. Despite this, he often ended up cowering, running away and snivelling. Zenitsu often lamented that he wanted to change and become a competent person.
His mentor upon being trained as a Demon Slayer was the former Thunder Hashira named Jigoro Kuwajima (桑くわ島じま 慈じ悟ご郎ろう Kuwajima Jigorō?).
Powers and abilities
Agatsuma was shown to possess a heightened sense of hearing allowing him to detect danger from the faintest of sounds. At its fullest potential, he was even able to hear the inner thoughts of other people.
From his mentor Jigoro Kuwajima, Zenitsu came to learn the Breath of Thunder Style (Japanese: 雷かみなりの呼こ吸きゅう, Hepburn: Kaminari no kokyū?) technique that increased his strength and agility in order to match the power of a Demon.
