History
Origin
The Iceberg Lounge was an establishment located within Gotham City.
The Penguin came to abandon Gotham when Black Mask took control of the city thus leaving the Iceberg Lounge abandoned. The new crime lord came to use the building as a hideout and base of operation for some of his henchmen including the Mad Hatter and Alexandra Kosov. (Detective Comics v1 #800)
The Trickster James Jesse and Pied Piper travelled to the Iceberg Lounge where they requested sanctuary from the Penguin. Reluctantly, he allowed them to stay in the buildings wine cellar but their location was found by Oracle. (Countdown v1 #40)
After Batman disappeared, Batgirl Cassandra Cain confronted the Penguin at the Lounge for information about her mentor. He, however, was angry at Batman seemingly not fulfilling his agreement in removing Intergang's influence from the city. Thus, he dissolved their partnership and told Batgirl to deliver the message to Batman that they were now enemies once again. (Batman and the Outsiders v2 #11) A fight erupted at the Lounge between the returned Gotham criminals and the Intergang members that had come to replace them in the city. (Batman and the Outsiders v2 #13)
Slam Bradley once broke into the establishment in order to confront the Penguin about the whereabouts of Hush. (Detective Comics v1 #850)
Post-Flashpoint
After the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.
He then showcased the newly refurbished Iceberg Casino and Hotel as part of an effort to drew in more customers. (Detective Comics v2 #6)
Whilst away from the Lounge, Cobblepot left operations temporarily in the hands of his executive assistant Ignatius Ogilvy. He then called a meeting among the Penguin's lieutenants where he declared his intention to take over Cobblepot's empire as he declared himself the Emperor Penguin. After killing one dissenter, the others fell in line and supported Ogilvy in his bid to claim power. (Detective Comics v2 #16)
At some point afterwards, the Lounge had been rebuilt with Duke Thomas breaking in as he sought clues to the whereabouts of his parents. (Batman v2 #43) Afterwards, the Penguin called a meeting among various crime lords to discuss the rise of Mister Bloom who had seriously wounded Cobblepot. At this time, Duke Thomas once again broke into the Lounge for information on Mister Bloom when he was discovered by the Penguin and his guests. (Batman v2 #46)
The Batman Who Laughs attacked the club where he killed its security and defeated the Penguin but did not kill his foe. Instead, he brought in an alternate universe version of Bruce Wayne and murdered him at the site thus leaving his body behind. (Batman Who Laughs v2 #3) Upon returning to Gotham, Jason Todd took over the Iceberg Lounge from the Penguin with it being said that Cobblepot had gone on the run though in reality he was trapped in his highly secure panic room in the building. With Oswald removed, Todd then took ownership of the business where he brought Suzie Su and her sisters to help him in managing it. (Red Hood and the Outlaws v2 #32) The club then came under attack from the Five Aces who were hired guns that were a contingency by Cobblepot that if he were to ever go missing then they were to deploy to either recover him or find his body. This saw them attack the Iceberg Lounge where they fought against the Sisters Su who worked with Jason Todd to defeat the hired assassins. (Red Hood and the Outlaws v2 #33) Afterwards, Cobblepot was freed from his panic room within the Lounge and attempted to take back control of his establishment but was forced to flee. It was then that Todd decided to pass ownership over the Iceberg Lounge to Suzie Su and her sisters so that they could have a chance at a legitimate business venture and go away from the life of crime with her being grateful to Jason at this chance. (Red Hood and the Outlaws v2 #36)
In the aftermath of the Joker War, the Penguin had been betrayed by Catwoman who escaped with a fortune that she promised to share with him. This led to Cobblepot looking for revenge and he decided to hire the services of a professional hitman named Brother Valley who was paid half in advance and would be paid half upon completion of his assignment. (Catwoman v5 #26)
