History

Project YoRHa came as a result of the failure of Project Gestalt in 3400 CE with the remaining androids looking for a means of reviving humanity.

Overview

In appearance, Project YoRHa was a military organization that consisted of humanoid androids designed by humanity. Their purpose was to help retake the planet Earth from the Machine Lifeforms in order to bring about the return of humanity. The androids all appeared similar to human beings though had a number of abilities beyond those of their creators. They were created with superior combat abilities to previous android lines and had complete resistance to the Logic Virus at first.

Within each YoRHa unit's body, there was a power source that was made from the core of a machine lifeform. Thus, it was the technology of the enemy that was used in their design. This also disqualified them from being treated as legitimate androids. A key fact of YoRHa units was that they were equipped with a system known as the black box. These items were made from re-using the core of a Machine Lifeform where it contained the consciousness of the android. The black boxes were installed after determining that it would be inhumane to install standard AI in androids that were ultimately destined for disposal.

YoRHa androids were capable of performing many actions of their human creators such as sleeping, eating and drinking. However, these offered no real benefit to them nor was it required with it instead being an activity that they felt like engaging in. They could not naturally reproduce nor were they outfitted with any kind of genitals by default though they were able to request them for purely recreational purposes.

Androids were divided into numerous classes that included:

  • A - Attacker :
  • B - Battler :
  • C - Canceller :
  • D - Defender :
  • E - Executioner :
  • G - Gunner :
  • H - Healer :
  • O - Operator :
  • S - Scanner :

An analysis of the stored personality data's stored within their servers. On request, YoRHa androids were capable of switching their roles.

Combat models typically used high-tech bladed weapons in their missions where they used a manipulator system called the near-field combat system (NFCS). This allowed them to control their weaponry where they were able to interface with virtually any object ranging from purpose built weapons to makeshift ones in the field. The NFCS manipulator fields produced a series of glowing translucent golden halo-like rings along the length of the weapon where they allowed for movements that would be incapable of being used in physical hands.

Ground missions saw fire support being delegated to small AI companions known as Pods that were hovering devices primarily used to carry ranged weaponry. However, they also served as assistants to their assigned android and helped questions in the field.

The androids were thus part of a larger military organization referred to as the Army of Humanity. Leadership of the project was seemingly held by the Council of Humanity that was said to consist of the last remaining human creators of the androids. Actual leadership of the YoRHa was held by a senior android who held the position of Commander. Supporting their operatives in their missions were special android communication officers known as Operators who were permanently stationed at headquarters. They provided mission assignments to the combat soldiers given to them and updated them on objectives as well as any relevant information for them.

A common form of greeting, salutation and dismissal involved using the phrase: "Glory to Mankind".

Project YoRHa was based on the thirteen orbital base that was known as the Bunker.
