Goa'uld are a serpentine parasitical species that feature in Stargate: SG-1.

The Goa'uld evolved on a swampy planet where they left the primordial pools to infest the bipedal reptilian Unas which served as their hosts. They eventually deciphered remnants of Ancient technology and formed a mighty empire, however, the small number of hosts meant the race were dying until their discovery of Humans on planet Earth. They took over the planet and lorded themselves as gods from various myths after which they spread Human tribes throughout the stars to serve as their followers, slaves and hosts.
