White Star is the name of a resistance group that featured in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2.
History
The organization was formed after the creation of the Superhuman Registration Act which divided the superhero community. Under the terms of the law, superheroes were required to register their identities to S.H.I.E.L.D. and those that did not faced incarceration for being rogues. This led to a civil war between the hero community between those that supported registration and those that opposed it. Captain America became the leader of the anti-Registration movement and took a number of likeminded superheroes with him to oppose Tony Stark as well as S.H.I.E.L.D.s attempts at enforcing it. A number of S.H.I.E.L.D. officers were sent to capture Captain America but instead of apprehending him, they joined him in opposing the Registration Act providing the resistance movement with a powerbase from which they could continue their struggle to ensure their freedom and seek ways to get the government to remove the registration law.
It was from these former S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives that the organization known as White Star was formed and named in honor of Captain America. Using captured and stolen S.H.I.E.L.D. equipment, they worked to oppose the pro-Registration forces with their base of operations being in a secret hidden hub that connected the network of resistance forces. Another base for the White Star that was formerly a HYDRA outpost came under attack from pro-Registration forces though it was ultimately protected by a team of anti-Registration heroes. White Star also worked to free a number of captured superheroes who were being transported to Prison 42 located through a portal into the Negative Zone.
- Presumably, with the end of the Civil War, White Star disbanded but the fate of its soldiers remains unknown.
